Tank weighing systems can offer simple, rough, and accurate weighing depending on their configurations. It is generally used to weigh liquid or solid material accurately. The load cells are of paramount importance and play a crucial role in the tank weighing system’s durability and longevity. Tank load cells include a container with an open-top used to process solid materials in the form of powders or granules, and this container is combined with tank load cells.

  • The tank weighing system is designed to weigh liquid and solid materials filled into or discharged from industrial tanks, silos, bunkers, and mixers. These systems are used widely in coal, liquid, steel, chemical, beverage, food, fodder, ready-made concrete and cement industries, refineries, and storing tanks.
  • The load cells of desired capacity are situated between pedestals and the tank. The tank is placed on the load cells, and the inlet and outlet lines are adjusted with suspension bellows to enhance the system’s performance. The outline pipe needs to be fitted with suspension bellows so that the system’s performance and weight are consistent.

 

Depending on the number of pedestals on which the tank is situated, the number of load cells is decided. For new installation, loads cells are changed accordingly. If it is within an existing tank, the number of load cells is equal to pedestals or mounting pillars.

  • Heavy and rectangular or square tanks need to be mounted on at least four load cells. These cells will provide adequate support to the structure of the tank. However, lower capacity circular tanks can be mounted on three load cells. The maximum number of load cells depends on the requirement and size of the Tank.
  • Tank weighing systems are used to obtain a clear idea of the volume of the available material in the tank. These tanks should have a minimum of three or four strong supports to mount the load cell assembly.
  • There are mainly two types of Tank Weigh systems depending on the plane’s degrees of freedom. The first one is a Tank Weigh System without a limiter arm, and it has 4 degrees of freedom in the plane. The second one is a tank Weigh System with a limiter arm and has 2 degrees of freedom in the plane.
